What does “bright, indirect light” mean?
Choose a bright spot without putting tender leaves in strong sun.

Look at the leaves, not just the room
Indirect light reaches a plant without a strong beam of sun falling on it. Think of a bright window with a sheer curtain, or a spot just outside the path of the sun. A room that looks bright to your eyes can still be dim several metres from the window.
Watch the spot over a day
Check in the morning and afternoon. Nearby buildings, balconies and trees affect the light, and the sun’s path changes with the season. A window direction is a starting point, not a guarantee that a position will suit your plant.
Make changes gradually
A plant kept in shade can scorch if moved straight into strong sun. Move it towards brighter light in stages. Long gaps between leaves can suggest too little light; scorched patches can suggest too much direct sun. Check watering and pests as well before deciding what to change.
